Fris Edam! Pop-up Expo
Fris Edam is one of the leading Dutch tableware manufacturers from the 50s and 60s of the last century. Known for its fresh colors and functional shapes, the service is timeless and continues to be a rich source of inspiration for contemporary designers. The Fris Edam products were functional, with soft colors, mostly geometric shapes and little decoration. In doing so, they fit seamlessly with the style of modernism and New Objectivity and were therefore promoted in leading interior magazines such as Good Living. At the end of the 1960s, the popularity of Fris Edam closed and the company closed its doors in 1969.
The Van Eesteren Museum has a unique collection of Fris Edam tableware and vases, donated by collectors Kees Slegt and Ingeborg Kurpershoek. Read more about the stories behind the dishes and vases on our collection page. At the pop-up expo Fris Edam! the collection will be on display in the museum for a weekend!
