Power Sisters
Power Sisters is a project by photographer, artist and stylist Perrine Philomeen. She follows and photographs kickboxing Muslim women in New West, where she also participates herself. She translates her experiences with this in this exhibition, which is an ode to kickboxing women, their community, their strength and their culture, but above all to the colors, jewelry and glitters of their appearance.
That materialization is exactly what fascinates Philomeen. She focuses her camera on the looks of the globalized world that is constantly changing. With her creative projects, she observes today's society and questions the future. She does this not only with photography, but also with styling, 3D, prints and fashion. She is most fascinated by fashion and clothing and how identity is translated into them. In addition, she is mainly looking for diversity, empowerment and feminism. She does this with a healthy dose of humor and optimism.
In the Van Eesteren Museum she presents her work in an active installation that transforms the museum into a kickboxing school. Anyone in the neighborhood can come kickbox. Are you coming too?
