Weaving Voices
Join us for a collective tapestry at the Van Eesteren Museum!
Artist Rosa Smits weaves colorful and inclusive tapestries in public places with passers-by. Last spring, she previously worked with visitors to the Van Eesteren Museum on a tapestry for Nieuw-West, during the Silent Waters Festival.
By international project Weaving Voices as Threads of Communities singing has woven into Rosa's practice. For two years, she worked with international singing teachers and voice coaches in a pedagogical and artistic way to invite local residents to weave and sing along in various communities in Europe. This turned out to have an inspiring and calming effect on many. The intertwining of threads and voices ensures that people stay close to themselves, while the exchange encourages a deeper sense of community.
Once again, Rosa Smits will be working on a collective rug in the museum, in collaboration with choir composer Dóra Halas. Everyone's hand and voice are welcome to participate! Experience is absolutely not necessary - all noises and stings contribute.
